Artist Capsella Vuolá-Falk has graduated from The Arts Academy of Turku (est. 1846) and is also a Master of Arts (University of Turku, the Department of Culture) and a teacher of art and culture (Teacher Education College of Jyväskylä).
Capsella Vuolá-Falk has taken part in exhibitions not only in Finland but also in France and United States. In 1982 she got an invitation to an annually organized exhibition of promising debutantes in the castle of Val in France. Two french artists were approved besides her. Vuolá-Falk took part in the exhibition with 32 oil paintings and got very good reviews in the french press.
The exhibition of the castle of Val led to a showing the works in two other towns, Vichy and Clermont-Ferrand. From Vichy she received the medal of the town. A remarkable breakthrough was that Capsella Vuolá-Falk got a five year agreement for using her paintings as models of the famous art textile weavers Aubusson. Tapestries have been made there for centuries, and always using the paintings of famous artists as models. The artist got her name as the first Finn among the likes of Matisse, Picasso, Braque, Deltombe and Serusier. Weaving is a very long and demanding process. Weaving one square metre lasts about a month, since every stroke of the brush is immortalized conscientiously in the tapestry. The first completed tapestry was bought to Finland by the editorial office of the newspaper Turun Sanomat.
Her process of painting has always been influenced not only by her art education but also by cultural university studies (ethnology, literature, theoretical philosophy, cultural history and educational studies), her employment as an arts and cultures teacher and by her professional development studies in Jyväskylä university. Her work has also contributed to her knowledge of international affairs and sustainable development and she has also familiarized herself with the Art's Propel program which originated in Pittsburgh, USA.
She has continued painting throughout her life while also being employed in other sectors. Despite dividing her time with art and other pursuits she has taken part in exhibitions in Chateau de Val, international biennale in Auvergne, Riom, Galeria de la Harpe, in Vichy and in France and also in Lucerne Inn in Maine USA. Since 2006 the artist is committed to working on a full-time basis in her atelier in Rauma, where "We are all made of stars" collection has gotten its start. This process is documented in detail by the artist on this website.
